Rampur, Uttar Pradesh: A serious case has emerged involving prominent YouTuber and social media influencer Mohd Arbaz Khan, who has allegedly received death threats, abusive messages, false accusations, and defamatory content through social media. The victim has submitted a written complaint to the police, seeking registration of an FIR in the matter.
Mohd Arbaz Khan, a resident of Swar in Rampur district (Uttar Pradesh), is a well known digital creator with a combined following of over 3 million across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. His Instagram account operates under the name “Arbaaz Vlogs (Mohd Arbaz Khan)”.
Pressure to Procure iPhone and False Allegation of ₹80,000 Fraud
According to the complaint, the accused, Rahim Khan, a resident of Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), contacted the victim via Instagram direct messages and allegedly pressured him to arrange an iPhone from abroad. After repeated requests, the victim conditionally agreed.
However, after sharing payment details, the accused reportedly transferred only ₹1 (one rupee) on January 14. Subsequently, when communication between the two ceased, the accused allegedly began abusing the victim and falsely accused him of cheating ₹80,000.
Audio Evidence: Accused Allegedly Admits Sending Only ₹1
The victim claims that during an audio call, the accused himself admitted to transferring only ₹1 and confirmed that no payment of ₹80,000 had been made. The victim states that he possesses audio recordings and chat screenshots as evidence to support these claims.
Obscene Abuse, Defamation, and Public Disclosure of Personal Number
As per the complaint, the accused allegedly used highly objectionable and obscene language against the victim’s mother. Additionally, false allegations were reportedly posted via Instagram stories, causing reputational harm.
Furthermore, the accused allegedly made the victim’s personal mobile number public on social media a number he has been using for the past 13 years raising serious concerns of cyber harassment and privacy violation.
Alleged Death Threat via Social Media
Escalating the situation, the accused allegedly posted a gun-themed Instagram story, indirectly issuing a death threat while tagging the victim. This act has reportedly created a serious threat perception for the victim and his family.
Demand for Legal Action
The victim has alleged that the accused’s intent is to gain publicity, defame him, and increase social media followers through controversy. He has urged the police to take strict legal action and register an FIR under relevant provisions related to defamation, cybercrime, criminal intimidation, and the Information Technology Act.
