Mad Scientist Innovates a fun route to children joy with Learning

Interview with Bhavna Bhatia (Mad Scientist)

Prasun Kulshrestha : What was your ambition as a child?

Bhavna Bhatia: When I was a child, I was very notorious. The major thing I used to do in my childhood was just experiment things and where ever there were any laboratories, I would just break the test tube, check something out and mixing one chemical with the other looking at the reaction. I was very studious, Asian girl who needs to know everything, understand it and then experiment it. In my childhood there was no clarity regarding my ambition, but I always wanted to be tagged as a scientist. All my social media accounts had the password as “scientist”. I never wanted to do a regular 9 to 6 job in my life. I was also very talkative, and I used to give a lot of speeches.

Prasun Kulshrestha: Tell us more about your education and upbringing. How was it?

Bhavna Bhatia: I was the most loved child in the house, a pampered child. I used to ask for something and the next thing I knew it was in my hands which has been very good and as I used to receive all the love and attention. I was brought up in a joint family, so it is something where you learn with everyone and education wise I was very particular about my science activities so I had opted for science as my stream and now I have a double degree in Biology, chemistry and Zoology.

Prasun Kulshrestha: From where did the idea of “MAD SCIENTIST” originate?

Bhavna Bhatia: I always wanted to do something is related to scientist as well as communication. When I was in college, I started venturing out different fields in science other than becoming a doctor, professor. But I wanted something unique so in my college days I was venturing and exploring new ideas. Then I started working with companies where they were giving out internships related to these experiments with teacher trainings and fun activities. When I started doing these internships I felt this is something which I wanted to do. So in my 1st internship what I was learning was “how to console and communicate”. In my 1st internship I started as a counselor where I learned how to communicate with different people of different ages. Then I started teaching for a few months which was becoming monotonous. I wanted to do something in teaching which involved experiments and fun activities. And now finally CEO of Mad Scientist.

Prasun Kulshrestha: Have you adopted teaching as a career? As a profession? What were the challenges which you faced initially? Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?

Bhavna Bhatia: Mad scientist actually started 3 years ago but at that time we had not given it the name “mad scientist” but then 2 years back I got the name and started my business. There were a lot of lop holes as it was the starting as I had experience only through internships and teaching. Basically Mad Scientist makes science fun in 2 manners, firstly we do a lot of birthday parties and secondly we conduct a lot of workshops, it is a learning and education platform along with entertainment. I tied up with a lot of party planners. Then I started contacting schools, principals of different schools. Gradually and slowly the business increased. We also did a lot of carnivals.
After 10 years I want to see a lot of branches of mad scientist. Right now I am taking international batches online. I want to expand in a such a manner that I should be having branches in at least every state. MAD stands for Make A Difference which aims at making a difference in the child’s mind.

Prasun Kulshrestha : How difficult is it to convince and manage children when you host parties at a large scale?

Bhavna Bhatia: It is not very difficult to convince them as they are already in party mood and when we do something unique and different the children are automatically attracted to it. Which is why I never faced difficulty in managing the children. The kids are never bored because we always try to do unique experiments because mad scientist is all about learning with fun.
Prasun Kulshrestha: What message do you want to give to the readers of MyPencilDotCom and viewers of this show?

Bhavna Bhatia: Firstly I would like to say that I loved being a part of this interview. I would like to say that one should do something unique in their careers. If you bring creativity in your life your future generations are also going to be the same. Mypencildotcom and mad scientist are also different with there unique ideas.also thanks to Antim Vikalp News.
